Airsoft Canada
LiveAirsoftcanada.ca, Canada's airsoft community platform, rebuilt from WordPress as a fast, custom web application.
The project
Airsoftcanada.ca brings Canada's airsoft players, clubs, fields and shops together: buying and selling gear, finding games, and talking shop. Over the years it grew on WordPress into a slow site held up by dozens of overlapping plugins: three security plugins, three form systems and three messaging systems, with 304 database tables where about 40 hold real content.
We rebuilt it as one fast, custom platform, without the plugin stack. Every member, ad, review, message, forum topic, article and subscription moved across, members kept their existing passwords, and old addresses redirect to their new pages, so links and search rankings keep working.
Busy communities attract spam, so moderation is built in throughout: new ads are checked by AI before they go live, with a person deciding anything unclear, and messages and posts from new accounts are held for review when they look suspicious.
What we built
- A marketplace for buying and selling gear, with AI-assisted ad approval
- A community feed and forum, with comments, reactions, follows and notifications
- Events with a calendar, a map, RSVPs and reminders
- A directory of businesses, clubs and teams, with reviews
- Private messaging, with shared inboxes for organizations and spam protection
- Articles and news, with an editor and approval before publishing
- Resources with calculators, and a drag-and-drop page builder
