Selling on account means a trusted customer takes the goods now and pays later, often once a month. It keeps good customers coming back, but only works if you always know who owes what. A notebook behind the counter doesn't last long.
In IAPZ, each customer has an account: a running balance of what they owe. What they buy on account goes on it; what they pay comes off it.
Sell on account
- At the counter: in the point of sale, choose the customer, tap Charge, then Pay later. Their receipt shows what they owe now.
- On an invoice: make an invoice for the customer. It's due 30 days later to start, and you can email it as a PDF.
Either way, the sale counts in your sales and its items come out of stock.
Take a payment
When they pay, open the customer in People, choose their Account tab, and choose Receive a payment. Enter what they paid and how. The payment comes off their balance and pays their oldest invoices first. If they pay too much, the rest stays as a credit for next time.
See who owes you
Sales, then Accounts, lists everyone with an account: who owes the most, who's overdue, and who has a credit. A customer's Account tab has their statement: each sale and payment, with the balance after each.
Good habits
- Agree the terms up front, such as paying within 30 days.
- Check Overdue every week, and send the invoice again as a reminder.
- Put How to pay on your invoices, such as your e-transfer address, in Settings, Brands.
