Before your first sale
Open Settings. Each list has its own page in the menu (Taxes, Payment methods, Places sold), with Add at the top and Change and Archive beside each entry:
- Taxes: add the sales taxes you're registered for, with their rates, for example GST 5% and PST 7% in British Columbia. When a rate changes, archive the old tax and add the new one, so past sales keep the rate they were charged.
- Payment methods: how customers pay you. Cash, E-transfer, Stripe and PayPal are there to start; rename, archive or add your own.
- Places sold: where online sales are made, such as your own website or a marketplace.
Record a sale
- In Orders, choose New sale. (On a phone, + opens the point of sale instead.)
- Choose the brand it was sold under, and the date.
- Optionally, choose the customer: type part of their name, email or phone and choose them from what's found. For someone new, choose New customer and enter their name, and their email if you like. Leave it empty for a walk-in sale.
- Choose how it was sold: in person, online, invoiced or wholesale. For an online sale, choose where.
- Add what was sold:
- One of your items: under Add an item, type part of its name, SKU or barcode and choose it. It comes in as a line with its price (at the customer's price level, if they have one) and its taxes, and with Inventory takes its stock. Choosing another customer afterwards prices the items again.
- Anything else: choose Line without an item and type what it's for.
- On each line, set the quantity (1.5 for an hour and a half), the price each, and any discount, and tick the taxes that apply.
- Stock from: with more than one location, choose which one the items come from.
- The totals follow as you type, with each tax shown separately.
- Choose Paid now, then what it was paid with and the day. Or choose Pay later to put it on the customer's account, with a due date.
- Choose Record sale. Sales are numbered from #1001.
Find and change sales
Orders lists your sales newest first, with the totals for the dates shown. Choose the dates (this month, last month, this year, last year, all time, or your own), and narrow it to one brand, source or customer, or to paid or unpaid sales.
Open a sale to see its lines and taxes. There you can:
- Mark paid, choosing how and when, or Mark as not paid. With a customer, an unpaid sale goes on their account and is paid there; without one, Who owes this? charges it to someone.
- Change it, on its own page.
- Delete sale, for one entered by mistake.
Sales that come from Stripe or a file are changed at their source, not here.
Summary
Summary shows your sales for the chosen dates by month, by brand and by source, each with its count, amount before tax, tax and total.
