Point of sale

Checked October 22, 2026

The Point of sale is for ringing up sales in person, on a phone or a computer. Open Sales, then Point of sale. On a phone, tap + in the bar at the bottom.

Open it from your phone's home screen

Put IAPZ on your home screen, and the point of sale is one tap away:

  1. On your phone, open app.iapz.com in Samsung Internet or Chrome, and sign in.
  2. From the browser's menu, choose Install app (or Add to Home screen).

The IAPZ icon opens straight to the point of sale, full screen. A long press on it offers Cashflow and Items too, on phones that support it. Your phone stays signed in for 30 days from the last time you used it.

A code of your own: in Settings, then Point of sale code, set a 4-digit code. Then, like Shopify's, IAPZ on your phone asks for it when it's opened from the icon, and after 15 minutes without use. Until it's typed, the phone shows only the number pad: no menus, sales or Cashflow. IAPZ on a computer never asks for it.

  • It only unlocks a phone that's already signed in; it's never a way to sign in. If you've just signed in with your password, it doesn't ask.
  • 5 wrong codes in a row sign that phone out, and it needs your password to sign in again.
  • Forgot it? Choose Sign out on the number pad, sign in with your password, then change it in Settings.

Add what they're buying

  • Search: type part of an item's name, its SKU or its barcode. Each result shows its price and how many are in stock. Tap one to add it; on a phone you're straight back at the sale.
  • Scan: choose Scan and hold the barcode inside the frame. The first time, your browser asks whether IAPZ may use the camera: choose Allow. A barcode scanner plugged into the computer works too: click in the search box and scan.

If you scan a barcode no item has, IAPZ asks which item it's on. Choose it: the barcode is added to it, and from then on scanning finds it.

Under the search are three tiles:

  • Custom item: a one-off, like a range fee or a repair. Enter the price, a description if you like, and untick any taxes that don't apply. It changes no stock.
  • Discount: off the whole sale, as a percentage or an amount. It's shared across the lines.
  • Customer: find someone in People (by name, email or phone), or Add customer. If they have a price level, the prices change to theirs. The tile then shows their name.

The sale

Each line shows the item and what it comes to. To change a line, tap it: − and + for how many, its Price for this sale, a Discount, or Remove.

Under the lines: the subtotal, Taxes (tap to see each one), and the total.

With more than one brand or location, choose which one you're selling under, and where the stock comes from, at the top. Each phone or computer remembers the brand you last sold under, so the shop's phone stays on your main brand.

To browse instead of searching, tap the search box: the categories appear above your items, from All to No category.

Take payment

Tap Charge. Then tap how they paid, for example E-transfer: that's it, the sale is recorded. For Cash, enter what they gave you (or tap Exact or a round amount) to see their change, then Complete sale. For a customer who'll pay later, tap Pay later: it goes on their account. It needs the customer, so choose Find a customer if you haven't.

Then, to email a receipt, check the email (a chosen customer's is filled in) and choose Send. The receipt comes from the brand's name, with each tax shown. New sale starts the next one.

To change or delete the sale afterwards, open it from Sales.
