Returns and refunds

Checked October 23, 2026

When a customer brings something back, record it as a return on the sale. The sale stays as it was, with the return and the refund shown on it. Delete sale is only for a sale entered by mistake.

Return items

  1. Open the sale and choose Return.
  2. Tap + for each item that came back.
  3. Leave Put back in stock ticked if the items can be sold again. Untick it for anything damaged.
  4. Under Refund to, choose how the money goes back. It starts with the way the sale was paid. With a customer, Account credit takes it off what they owe, or keeps it for their next sale.
  5. Choose Refund. The button shows the amount, taxes included.

You can return part of a sale now and more later. The last items returned give back exactly what's left of the sale, to the cent.

On the sale

The sale shows Refunded and After refunds under its total, and a Returns list with what came back, when, and how it was refunded. In the sales list it shows as Partly refunded or Refunded.

A sale with a return can't be changed. To fix a mistake, choose Undo beside the return: the refund comes off, and the items count as sold again.

An account credit shows on the customer's account as Return on # and the sale's number. It's undone on the sale, not on the account.

Sales from Stripe or a file are refunded where they came from.
