Many shops sell at more than one price: retail to the public, wholesale to shops that resell, a discount for a club or members. Keeping a second price list in a spreadsheet, and remembering who gets what, is where mistakes happen.
In IAPZ, a price level is a set of prices for a kind of customer. Give a customer a level, and every sale to them is priced at it.
1. Add a price level
Open Settings, then Price levels, and choose Add a price level. Name it, for example Wholesale, and choose a rule for every item:
- % off retail: 30% off makes a $20 item $14.
- % markup above cost: 60% makes an item that costs you $10 sell for $16.
- None: only items you give a price at this level have one.
2. Set your own price where it differs
Open an item's Prices tab to give it its own price at a level, such as 14.99. To change many at once, use the price list: Items, then Prices, shows every item's cost, retail price, margin and its price at each level.
3. Give your customers their level
On a customer's page in People, choose their Price level. People at an organization buy at the organization's level.
4. Sell as usual
At the point of sale, or on a sale, invoice or quote, choose the customer and their prices apply: the item's own price at their level, otherwise the level's rule, otherwise retail.
